Demersul teologic de mai sus pare pentru unii o spiritualizare sau o abstractizare a realităţilor cereşti. Adesea se citează cuvintele scrise de EGW în cursul crizei Kellogg, susţinătorul unui tip de panteism:

După cum Apocalipsa are viziuni diferite ale templului (templelor?) din cer, aceeaşi situaţie, care nu a fost suficient analizată, o întâlnim în scrierile Ellenei White. Este important să observăm că ea vorbeşte despre cele văzute în viziunile ei ca fiind ilustraţii ale realităţilor cereşti, şi nu realitatea în sine:

....Noi am acceptat adevărul, punct cu punct, sub puterea demonstraţiei Spiritului Sfânt. Eu eram luată în viziune, şi primeam explicaţii. Mi se dădeau ilustraţii ale lucrurilor cereşti şi ale sanctuarului, aşa încât eram aşezaţi în poziţia în care lumina strălucea asupra noastră în raze clare, distincte.— Gospel Workers, p. 302.
